Spring clean your kitchen cupboards in 5 steps

My-Office-Label-Ad

While your kitchen cupboards may not house mouldy bread and other science projects – there comes a time every year (usually around spring) when most of us start feeling the need to cut down on clutter.

Here is a 5-step plan for transforming your kitchen cupboards and shelves into a beautifully functional storage system.

  1. Unpack

Remove everything that is stored in your kitchen cupboards. This may seem a little rash, but you’ll be amazed at how much easier it is to tackle this task with a clean slate.

  1. Evaluate

Think about how you use your kitchen. Are your pots and pans stored close to your stove? Are your mugs, glasses and everyday dinner plates easy to reach? Assess which items you use on a daily basis and what lies lurking at the back of your cabinets. You may be amazed at the sheer number of unnecessary items you have accumulated.

  1. Toss

Take the crockery, cookware, appliances and other items that you haven’t used in years and get rid of them by donating them to someone who needs them. Alternatively, you could sell these as second hand goods and earn extra cash.

  1. Clean

Scrub your cabinets from top to bottom. This is probably the most physically exerting part of the process, but so worth it! Don’t forget to wipe down your cabinet doors as well.

  1. Organise

Now it is time to repack your sparkling clean cupboards. Treat yourself to some new kitchen organisers or storage canisters for keeping items such as pasta, sugar, tea, cereal and other dry goods.  Then add stylish labels to your storage containers from the Tower inkjet-laser label range. These are easy to apply and you can design them yourself using Tower’s free label templates, which are available on Microsoft Word 2007 and upwards. You can also download LabelArt design software and pre-designed labels from the Tower website to make your life easier. Beautifully labelled storage containers will take all the guesswork out of finding the items you want, while keeping your cupboards and shelves tidy with a stylish touch.

Now it is time to sit back and enjoy a well-earned cup of tea while you admire your clean, ordered and chaos-free kitchen!
